The enchanted blue pitcher
glows like a votive candle
in the sunlight that pours
from the kitchen window.
It sparkles at points with
sapphires around its arm,
neck and waist, as it
alchemizes white light
into watery blue air.

on Central Park West,
New York City
Do you remember a distant or recent experience where some light was striking or washing or suffusing an object or a setting in a vivid way? Something you witnessed firsthand, maybe even quietly marveled at.
As you go through a usual day, or somewhere on a trip, look with more open and innocent eyes at how the light changes things, animates, alchemizes or enchants them. Like faces in candlelight, an ocean or lake under the moon, your bedroom at sunrise, rainbows, fireworks. And yes, even a carwash ...
