the joy of living in brightness

Living in a brighter reality

uplifts our days, our moments,

our faith in the world's well-being.

Mesimeri | Siesta

Sun-caked white walls.

Cascades of bougainvillea.

Scents of sweet basil,

jasmine, geranium

that plume as you pass

through the quiet hours.

Sea-blue shutters closed.

Stillness.

Even the cicadas slighter.

The sleeping bodies

of the islanders lighter.

The passage of time slower.

On the harbor of Korissia,

on the Aegean island of Kea

in the Cyclades, in Greece

a thought

Think of the shared natures of people

from the tropics and other sun~strong

latitudes & longitudes.
From Greece to Australia

to Southern California.

a QUESTION

Where have you observed the uplifting effects of being in bright-wide weather? The effects on your own or others' bodies or personalities. Lighter-limbed? Lighter-hearted? More relaxed, easygoing?

a Call to experience

Seek out opportunities to be in the naturally brightest places you can at least part of the day. Not least at high noon. Even if not wildly bright, at least brighter than dimmer or muted places. Sense into the difference. Think of how much more plants and flowers thrive the more full, natural light they get. Take a leaf from their knowing book of life, and aliveness.
